A Love Letter

The Son of God became a man to enable men to become the sons of God. ~ C.S. Lewis

It’s Easter Eve. I found a love letter that I thought you might enjoy.

Just for you
I suffered and died.
And one day
I will take all of your
pain and sorrow away,
and wipe every tear
from your eyes.

All I ask in return
is that you Love Me
and Trust Me.

For years I lived my life in despair.
For years I felt abandoned by God.
Because of my addictions and failures.
But then I cried unto the Lord
and He heard my prayer.
He set my feet upon a rock.
He put a new song in my heart.
He made known unto me
the joy of His salvation.
~ Ron Pdvoisky

The poem, in its entirety, is overlaid here on a video ofย  the Tommy Coomes Band’s Come Just As You Are.

If there ever was a day to remember that Jesus loves us unconditionally, Easter is surely it.

None of the great deeds we do, not in a lifetime, can add to that love. And not a thing we’ve done, not in this lifetime, can make Him love us less.

He just wants us to come to Him. That’s why He came in the first place. The Son of God became a man to enable men to become the sons of God.

I didn’t recognize you! (you look great by the way) ๐Ÿ˜€
Isn’t it wonderful to know that NOTHING we can do can add or detract. He loves us completly, permanently. As Noel said: Just as I am.

  1. My heart hurt some when I knew I’d be kind of gone for Easter. But now I’m home and reading / seeing this, made me feel like I was in church, like I didn’t miss a thing. Thank you and God bless you, gracious one!

    1. Hello Greg –
I thought the poem was touching.
I didn’t get your email (branson.debbie@gmail.com) unless you’re the person who wrote to me yesterday under a different name (? – Harry) with just one sentence saying divorce isn’t an option? There wasn’t any context so I spammed the email.
Anyway, I hope your Easter was a great celebration!

  2. This is amazing as usual my Wise Earth Angel. I found Harper and St. Francis of Assisi (and Harper is buried beneath him now in D’s back yard). These are two factors in the LOVE and REBIRTH of Kindness, Love, Compassion and Inclusion. I love everything you write. I absolutely adore your message and your understanding of God. Today is about renewing our vow to be kind and loving to ourselves and opening our hearts and arms. I feel like something brewing my friend! There are many who have contributed to my new path. 1. Hello Mel!
This was the video I was trying to post on your blog. I just gave up and used it here instead. I knew you’d find your way over. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I know something is ‘brewing’ with you and I think it’s going to be something great!
      love and grace, dear friend,
      Debbie

  3. Thank you, Debbie

Beautiful reminder of the simple we things we often take for granted (or forget altogether….)

    God bless you,
    ann

    1. Dear Ann –
I was originally going to use Keith Green’s Easter Song but I have a dear friend who’s struggling and this one just seemed to be the right love letter for today.
You are often in my prayers,
      Debbie

  4. Excellent post Debbie! It reminds me of the first verse in one of my favorite songs:

Just as I am, without one plea,
but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou bidst me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

I thank you very much for sharing. God bless you.

    1. Noel –
I was sitting in my chair singing that very hymn just before I turned on the computer. It isn’t one of the ones that I usually think of on Easter.
      How interesting that we’re both singing it right now;
Thank you and I hope this day is one of rejoicing for you,
      ~ Debbie

    1. Happy Easter dear Debby!
      All I ask in return
      is that you Love Me
      and Trust Me.
He died for me and all He asks is for my love and trust.
Seems so rudimentary doesn’t it? And yet… there are days when my love seems tepid and my trust slipping toward self reliance.
Love and prayers this Easter, dear friend,
      Debbie

  5. Love the C S Lewis quote, Debbie–apparently I need to check out his books in the library, as you and the Writing Sisters seem to quote him often. You know what a talker I am–but today I feel pretty speechless, overwhelmed by Jesus’ Huge Love for me. God bless you abundantly, dear sister~~sis Caddo (I’m hoping the card I sent you didn’t get lost in your spam or something…)

    1. Happy Easter, Sis!
The fog has lifted just enough for me to pop back on line!
      Thank you!
It’s Well With My Soul! Beautiful! ๐Ÿ˜€
And yes, you really should give C.S. Lewis a try (maybe not his poetry though, poetry girl – it wasn’t his strong suit).
love and joy to you today!
      ~ Debbie

      1. Oh I DO like that: “Poetry Girl”–but would I have to give up the S.G. part?? Will hit the library next week, probably–thanks!!
